Portraiture is the central aspect of my practice. I aim to capture everyday moments in time, and the layered emotions of comfort, home, and belonging through my domestic spaces and figures. I often contrast the safety of family and domestic shelter with current events. I view these works as romanticizing the mundane moments of the everyday life of my close friends and family, and the moments before and after the posed moments in a photo album. By working simultaneously from scenes in my home as well as photographs from the past and present, I compose spaces that showcase the human nature of connection, individuality, and continuity.
